Item Description
An 18th Century Portuguese painted chestnut longcase clock with hand-carved decorations. A very striking design featuring its original paint of vivid pastel-like colors.
The eight-day birdcage movement striking on a bell, with an arched enameled clock face finished with a brass dial and Roman numerals.
The clock face is Inscribed 'Jeremie Girod' 'Porto é Coruna'. The arch is repoussé decorated with exotic birds while the cherrywood case is detailed with a carved urn of flowers and leaves above a mask with original glass eyes and mouth.
While we cannot guarantee that the clock will keep time we have found that it does so on our premises. It would be advised that as with any clock after moving it, the movement is professionally installed and serviced when placed into situ.
