Item Description
This vintage Banjara textile is a gala which is part of a headdress used for carrying water. It hangs down the back of the neck and is used to show off the woman's needlework skills. The gala is embroidered thickly in cotton and is adorned with mirrors and cowrie shells. Its in lovely condition with a small hoe in the bottom right hand corner. I don't this this is noticeabe. I have mounted it on thick vintage canvas stretched over a frame . It makes a very interesting piece of wall art.
The back has a hanging wire.
