Item Description
This lovely little Banjara gala is heavily embroidered in the most beautiful colours. Coral, yellow, green, white and indigo. The colours are all natural so have faded over the years to this attractive palette. A gala is part of the water carrying head-dress that the Banjara woman wears. It hangs down the back of the neck and is a wonderful place to show the wearer's needlework skills. I've mounted the gala on a vintage heavy cotton over a stretched canvas. There is a hanging wire on the reverse.
