Item Description
These 2 cushions are made from the 2 panels from a vintage Maonan minority wedding blanket. The blanket dates to the middle C20 and is handwoven in thick cotton with auspicious symbols in silk. The red or rust colour of the cotton is derived from the mineral dye senna. The auspicious symbols in silk have faded with time but you can see traces of the original colours including the wonderful light turquoise that I've used for the tassels and the bright blue I've used for the backs. The textile on the back is also a vintage handwoven indigo from east China.
These long cushions are perfect for dressing beds or low backed sofas.
