Item Description
A decorative pair of 18th century altar candlesticks with original painted surface and gilded decoration. The pale grey painted background to these carved lime wood candlesticks has worn a little thin in places and they do have some age related spotting as one would expect for their history and use but still strong and stable with no flaking. All raised areas boast the original gilding which is still plentiful and bright after two centuries. The candle prickets are tall and firm and will easily support candles for modern day use or could simply be left bare and the candlesticks displayed as the beautiful decorative objects they are. Carved wood original paint and gilding.
