Item Description
A French papier-mâché Swan. Made originally as a child’s toy “rocking swan “ almost a century ago, in that time the swan has gathered a few playful battle scuffs and scars otherwise it has remained in remarkable condition. The curved graceful neck and eye detail are particularly pleasing. The painted feather design is still visible and the whole body sits gracefully upon two solid pine rockers, there are a tiny smattering of historical woodworm marks now treated purely as a precautionary measure. The little ledge seat inside the swan is still intact with the original green paint together with the original exterior painted surface now faded and mellowed to the most subtle tones. An enchanting decorative French swan. Circa 1930.
