Item Description
A 19th century French walnut commode / chest of four drawers. Another fine example of a French commode but this time with a solid wooden top as opposed to the usual marble top. The exquisite walnut veneers to the drawer fronts have been cut and carefully matched to create a mirrored butterfly grain running from the top drawer down to the base plinth. This beautiful commode boasts three deep storage drawers with a narrower top drawer above. The whole piece is structurally sound with no horrid splits or faults. The drawers fit perfectly within the sturdy carcass and run with ease. Gorgeous rich walnut colour with a fine patinated surface. French walnut commode circa 1860.
