This vintage cross stitch picture framed embroidery has been thoroughly cleaned while respecting the vintage patina.

Eva Rosenstand pattern is number 12279, created in the first half of the 20th Century by Danish artists. A traditional hunting still life picture with shotgun, horn and ducks.

The large size of this embroidery, together with the country life theme and mood tones, would suit a range of interiors from Traditional to Contemporary.

A classical motif with a very high and conspicuous level of detail.

The pattern is worked in cross stitch, half cross stitch and backstitch using 50 shades of stranded cottons over 200 by 300 stitches. The linen evenweave fabric is in a warm ivory tone.

The embroidery sits protected behind clear glass in its original vintage quality rectangular frame of solid polished oak, with curve quadrant moulding. Nice attention to details in the mitered corners.

The backside has two metal rings with a fitted metal thin cable to hang the picture to the wall.

This vintage framed embroidery is in very good condition for its age. The fabric surface is in very good condition with no damages and only a light warm patina in line with age. The colours are still vibrant. The wooden frame is sound with no damages and minor marks & some patina in line with age and wear.

EVA ROSENSTAND A/S - CLARA WAEVER EMBROIDERY COMPANY HISTORY

Around 1870 several embroidery shops opened in Copenhagen, Denmark. Clara Wæver showed great talent for embroidery and was hired for an embroidery shop. In 1890 Clara Wæver opened her own shop at Vesterbrogade 62. She sold materials for different kind of embroideries and produced patterns. In 1903 Clara Wæver purchased a big collection of original drawings by the Danish artists Bindesbøll, Constantin Hansen, Kristian Møhl-Hansen and P.C. Skovgård. She was very successful while working with these artists.
In 1917 the Wæver sisters handed over the shop to N.C.Dyrlund, who continued producing the rich traditional embroideries. Clara Wæver died in 1930. In 1940 Jacob Holst took over the company.

In 1953 Jørgen Rosenstand, the son of Jacob Holst, took over the leadership. In 1958 he founded his own company: Eva Rosenstand A/S. Eva Rosenstand´s style within embroidery was from the start very different to the one of Clara Wæver´s. Drawings from Danish artists like Falke-Bang, Leif Ragn Jensen and Verner Hancke were used, and the style was more modern/popular/naturalistic for the taste in those years. He introduced in a very early stage the so-called ´ready-made kit´, with all the necessary materials for a cross-stitch design that could be delivered to people`s homes. In 2003 the Danish company Carl J. Permin A/S took over Eva Rosenstand / Clara Wæver.
