Item Description
This mid-18th-century French faience serving dish from Rouen features a sumptuous polychrome decor in the Chinoiserie style. Three pagodas are connected by bridges over a lake, surrounded by oversize flowers and imaginary animals, creating a vibrant dream-like landscape. This platter showcases remarkable details, from the different shapes of flowers to the precise design of the architecture and imaginative patterns filling the bridges. The edge is elegantly shaped and the lip features an exquisite frieze with floral and criss-cross patterns that are typical of mid-18th-century Rouen faience.
This large serving dish is in excellent condition and signed by the manufacture Guillebaud. It is an exceptional decorative piece that would make a remarkable addition to any collection.
Condition: some wear and one small restoration to the edge, firing marks to the underside
