A large Coco De Mer's (Lodoicea maldivica) in untouched original condition

these nuts have many alias, commonly known as the sea coconut, coco de mer, Maldive coconut or double coconut, is a monotypic genus in the palm family.

these drift seeds, which are famed for their resemblance to the female form, where was once believed to grow on a mythical tree at the bottom of the sea, European nobles in the sixteenth century would often have the shells of these nuts polished and decorated with valuable jewels as collectibles for their private galleries, in 1768 it was discovered by Marc-Joseph Marion Du Fresne, that they in fact originate from Seychelles, the Coco De Mer is now a rare and protected species endemic only to Praslin and Curieuse Islands
