Pulman (Elizabeth, 1836-1900). A fine collection of Maori Portrait of Chiefs, natives, and landscapes of the Bay of Islands, New Zealand, c .1870, albumen prints laid on contemporary card, and mounted on hand crafted marble paper.
Housed in period late 19th century ebonised frames, with age related knocked and abrasions.

Elizabeth Pulman (1836 -1900) was a British-born New Zealand photographer, regarded as being the country's first female professional photographer. Many of her works are of important Maori tribe members including Chief Paul Paora Tuhaere, King Tawhiao and Tawhiao's daughter and second wife.
