Item Description
A fun silver plated cocktail shaker in the form of a milk churn or watering can by renowned American silversmith Reed & Barton, Circa 1930's. Using oxidised silver plating, the patina is deliberately knocked back to a darker colour.
This unusual piece of antique barware was crafted when Prohibition was declared in USA when it became illegal to buy, sell or drink alcohol (from 1920-1933), which resulted in an explosion of ‘home use’ cocktail making. If a cocktail shaker didn’t look like a cocktail shaker, ’it’s a watering can, Officer’… then the partying at home could continue.
