A Prohibition Era tall chromium cocktail shaker, by Manning-Bowman for Meriden, Conn, USA in a classic ‘coffee pot’ shape with stepped base and top, and teak wood handle, lid finial and twist-off pouring stopper, mAkers mark stamped "Manning-Bowman Meriden, Conn", Patent number 97979. In excellent condition.
This unusual piece of antique barware was crafted when Prohibition was declared in USA when it became illegal to buy, sell or drink alcohol (from 1920-1933), which resulted in an explosion of ‘home use’ cocktail making.
