Item Description
A Teak Tambour Desk designed by John Mortensen for Dyrlund, Denmark.
This innovative and ergonomically designed teak desk was created by John Mortensen for Dyrlund in Denmark. As is typical with this cabinet maker, the craftsmanship is exceptional and beautifully finished. The desk is crafted from solid teak with an inset leather top.
The front of the desk features two attractive handles, which, when pulled simultaneously, raise the desk's upper tambour shutter. The fitted interior includes useful cubbyholes, letter racks, shelves, and four wonderful drawers made from solid teak. Above the tambour is a convenient storage area for books or files.
The desk top offers further storage options, including pen trays and dishes for paper clips, etc. The leather writing surface opens to reveal additional storage.
The entire piece stands on sleek, slender legs with an adjoining stretcher and two central upright supports. The overall design combines clean lines with inventive functionality.
The desk has been cleaned and sympathetically re-polished. Wear is minimal and commensurate with its age and use.
The chair shown with the desk is a Model 7 Oak and Teak chair designed by Helge Sibast in the 1950’s and is available for sale separately.
