Item Description
This is a truly spectacular and one of a kind antique French large bow and ribbon that dates from the 18th century. Originating from a private chateau close to Avignon in the South of France this magnificent and extremely rare treasure was once the crowning part of a bed where it embellished the top of its canopy. It is masterfully hand carved from wood and gilded. The ribbon is connected in the middle with a stunning rosette. Through its impressive age a marvellous timeworn patina has been created that in my opinion only brings forth its true beauty and splendour today. This is a remarkable adornment that measures about 22 x 72 x 13 cm or approximately 8.6 x 28.3 x 5.1 inches. In lovely weathered condition and exactly as I discovered it on my latest trip to France.
