Item Description

An original Georgian architectural pine frieze panel c.1800, handcarved with scallop shell to the centre and scrolling foliage. Fitted with string for hanging, this antique frieze section is ready for wall mounting in an interior. It will look particularly striking above a sideboard or console where it’s fine intricacy and late 18th/early 19th century craftsmanship can be observed and admired.

We are also selling a similar larger example in the same style under Stock No. 35856.

Provenance: Ossowski, Pimlico Road

CONDITION REPORT

Good structural condition. Stripped finish, previously painted. As such, there are traces of old paint to crevices. It looks as though the face of the backboard has had a paint wash. Chips and scuffs. Some holes to the edges where it was previously fitted. Fitted with string for wall mounting.
