Item Description
A large antique 20th century terracotta plaque for wall display, incised with the monogram J.S of ceramicist John Shelly (British, 1907-1995).
This expertly crafted circular plaque is modelled in relief depicting a portrait of a Japanese Geisha with hair ornaments and a gown against a stippled background within a moulded border.
In a sublime rich terracotta, this antique is a timeless accessory for any property. It would certainly make a fashionable wall piece for an interior, looking elegant positioned above a mantelpiece or console.
CONDITION REPORT
Good structural condition. There is a slight rub to the hair. General light discolouration is also visible. There are a couple of holes at the top of the plaque that would take wires for hanging.
