Item Description
A deeply carved, late 18th / early 19th century English oak Georgian era fireplace, circa 1800. Highly decorative, this antique fireplace is carved to the frieze tablet with the mask of Bacchus, the ancient Greco-Roman God of Wine and Festivity, with acanthus leaves to either side. Other decorative features of this surround include scrolling jambs and a dog leg opening lined with egg and dart carving and a reel and bead edge.
