Item Description

A collection of rare Georgian hand mirrors with concave mirror plates, made to enlarge the reflection in order to assist in the application of cosmetics and patches during the pox-ridden years of the eighteenth century.
All four are made using fruitwood, (apple and pear), ebonized, and all are entirely the handiwork of the turner.
One with the trade label for Lynch of Dublin, (a copy of which is produced within the images), the label surrounded by printed circles that perhaps coincidentally have been turned into the wooden backing of another. The smallest example has the advantage of both a concave and a convex plate.
One, at least, Irish; all made circa 1770.
Largest Dia:6.75 inches
