Item Description
A primitive set of dominoes, most likely made and used by a whaler, the tiles cut from whalebone, the box made correctly for such a thing, the corners joined effectively with splices of thin veneers, the surface of the wood, (sycamore?) roughly sawn and now with a good patina to it's surface.
Dating from the last quarter of the eighteenth century. The game up to sixes and complete.
4 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inches x 7/8 inch
