Emancipation Medal designed by joseph davis, to the reverse: to commemorate the abolition of negro apprenticeship in jamaica. Barbados. Grenada. St. Vincents. St. Kitts. Nevis. Montserrat & the virgin islands. By acts of the respective local legislatures august.1.1838.

obverse: the standing figure of freed slave with legend in an arc overhead; england i revere. God i adore. Now i am free. to left and right of the ground davis medallist birm.

A rare medal struck in pewter in fine condition retaining much of the original mirrored finish
dia: 2inches (51mm).
