Item Description

A pen and ink, heightened in white calligraphic design, the letter 'Y', initialed in the design E. P. for E. Pay. Some of these designs are blind stamped ESK for 'Examined South Kensington' indicating that this is the work of a student at the School of Design. This establishment was transferred to South Kensington where it remained, until recently, adjacent to the Museum buildings. It was referred to as the Art School or Art Training School and survives today as the Royal College of Art. English circa 1880.
Mounted within a period ebonized etching frame. (2.75 in x 3 in) H 8.75" x W 8"inches.
