Item Description
PRETTY TRADITIONAL SHELFRACK carved in WALNUT with heart and leaf symbols, very typical of the Provence region in south eastern France.
The rack which was made to hold bread asnd cakes, has a pediment and ' apron ' and was made to be hung on a wall . A sympathetic vernacular piece that was traditionally carved for a bride or given for a marriage,- viz the carved Heart on the pediment.
Measures 29 inches tall X 23 x 8 deep. (74 x 58 x 20 cms) Circa 1820-1860 From Provence , Southern France. In reasonable condition with several old repairs and imperfections to the sides of the rack which are barely visible from the front.
