Item Description
This exceptional George III period table, dating from the late 18th century, exemplifies the artistry and elegance of the period. The rectangular top, crafted from superbly figured mahogany, features gently rounded corners and is beautifully adorned with a broad band of rosewood and decorative brass star inlay, brass stringing along the edges, and a refined apron with ebony stringing.
The table is supported by a striking ebony-inlaid quattro-form pedestal base with a finely carved turned central column. The fluted platform, enhanced by intricate ebony marquetry, leads to four elegantly hipped and scrolled legs, all inlaid with ebony detailing and terminating in the original brass decorative castors.
The figured mahogany exhibits a rich, warm patina, which is perfectly complemented by the exquisite brass and ebony inlay work throughout. This table is not only a testament to exceptional craftsmanship but also a stunning example of Georgian design, making it an ideal centrepiece for any refined interior.
