An unusual and rare display shelf in beautifully worked decorative wrought iron with original marble shelves - this piece was made for a French 'Boulangerie' to display the days baguettes, croissants and brioches. Absolutely beautiful wrought iron work with wheat sheaf motif- it would be a wonderful display piece in a delicatessen or specialitey food shop - an unusual and decorative center piece. It would also be an interesting piece in a domestic setting - maybe in the hall or more appropriately in the kitchen as extra display space for those special cooking implements. The space below was I believe used to put a large basket in to store the days baguettes as they came out of the ovens.
Also interesting in a Florists to display flowers or a Wine Shop to display the latest Vintage wines .....Circa 1880
