Fine quality early 19th.c. Biedermeier style mahogany secretaire chest of drawers c.1830. Bookleaf flame mahogany veneered top with projecting front corners, crossbanded edge and deep ogee mouldings. Over four drawers, the top drawer opening to form a useful little desk (height 30") with a fitted interior of six small stationery drawers and four pigeon holes (with unusual Gothic arch tracery tops) either side of a lockable compartment at the centre. Note the unusual pierced sides and the original brass catches, hinges and lock. Symmetrically arranged flame mahogany veneers to the drawer fronts with mother of pearl escutcheons. Flanked with turned and carved column pilasters to the front corners of the cabinet. Mahogany veneered sides and slim plinth raised on turned front feet. Pine linings and back panels. Very good colour and condition with some small repairs to the veneers. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
