Item Description
Early 18th.c. or Queen Anne period walnut bureau c.1710. Very well figured English walnut veneered exterior with inlaid feather or herringbone banding to the fall and drawer fronts. Open the fall to reveal a fitted interior of pigeon holes and small drawers around a lockable central compartment. Desk height 29". With access to the well below through a sliding panel in the base of the desk interior. With two short and two long drawers of graduated depth below the desk. Oak drawer linings, note the grain of the drawer bases running front to back, the thin drawer sides with rounded top edge and the lack of cockbeading to the drawer fronts; all indicative of very early 18th.c. cabinet making. Later Georgian pattern brass handles. With a good deep ogee moulding around the base and shaped bracket feet. Some previous repairs and restorations and noticeably faded colour to the fall. Generally good condition, restored cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
