Item Description
Late Georgian Welsh oak box settle c.1800. Useful small size, just 42½" wide. Slightly sloped backrest with three flat panels and a simple moulded detail to the surrounding rails and mullions. Sloped arms with an unusual shaped detail where they join the back. Board seat (height 18"), the front board is loose lifting to reveal useful storage inside for boots and shoes etc. Oak panelled front and sides below the seat, the left hand side having two smaller panels suggesting it may originally have had drawers in that end. Excellent colour and condition with lovely rustic character. Restored, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
