Item Description
Late Georgian Welsh oak dresser and rack, South Wales c.1800. Well proportioned plate rack with a moulded cornice over three shelves (depth 4¾"), each with a plate groove and raised front lip. With 34 hand forged iron hooks to the canopy and the fronts of the top two shelves. Base featuring a two plank top with shaped 'shoes' where the rack joins, a raised bead to hold smaller plates and an applied moulding to the underside. Over three drawers with a scratch carved edge and retaining the original brass swan neck handles. On square stiles over an open potboard display shelf, note the little shaped brackets where the stiles join the apron below the drawers. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
