Item Description
An Early 19th Century Italian Walnut Parquetry Commode with Marble Top.
This commode is of striking appearance due to its all over parquetry decoration, carried out using fruitwoods and walnut.
Standing on tapering square sectioned legs with fluted detailing, also used on the pilasters. The striking veneers, laid so as to create geometric patterns on the drawer fronts, are very effective. This decoration is also used on both sides. It retains its original grey and white figured marble top with moulded edge and, original neoclassical plate handles which retain traces of a blue enamel.
A lovely decorative piece of furniture.
