Still life of roses in a vase
Oil on board, signed (lower left)
Framed in a 19th century water gilded frame with a bold section, the water gilding with lovely aged patina, set off with a black slip. The gilding to the sides and edges of the frame are chipped and rubbed revealing the white gesso.
The painting is in generally good condition, small edge chips to the lower right of the board, these are stable and not flaky.
Born to a French father and a mother Russian, Boris Buchet is one of the artists from Eastern Europe who settled in the Montparnasse district of Paris during the interwar period.
