Item Description
This is an antique country gentleman's suitcase. A Scottish, leather travelling case, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.
Superb example with a generous proportion and well-appointed interior
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good, lightly time worn order
Quality leather, tanned to a deep amber hue and pleasingly intact
Brass used throughout for press studs, mounts and clasps
Stout handle with lock cover between a pair of long luggage straps
Sliding circular clasp with inset lock — untested, key absent
Opens to reveal a dual division interior, providing storage in each half
Storage height of 13.5cm within the base and 11cm behind the division
Canvas lining to the interior in a warm cream hue with light brown leather straps
Divider hosting a striking red pouch to one side, with a wide document sleeve on the reverse
Fascinating Art Nouveau maker's mark for Reid and Todd of Glasgow to the interior lining
Charming black monogram to each end for a J.R.
