This is an antique orangery jardiniere. A Scottish, oak and elm country house fireside store or newspaper trough, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1850.
Fascinating raised form with wonderful detail
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Quality oak stocks present fine grain interest throughout
Rich caramel hues beam from beneath a wax polish finish
Generous proportion to the upper, the planter edge with chamfered trim
Front and side fascia skilfully accentuated with relief carved diamond forms
Raised upon distinctive X-shaped elm legs with peg joints to centre
United across the centre with a rolled stretcher rail
