Set against St. Michael's Mount, the horse appears to be distracted by the playful gulls, waiting for a stray mussel or cockle to come their way. The peach hues resplendent above the sea sit against the mid-blue background where the worker resides. This colour balance helps suggest the playful interaction of the wildlife is a strong contrast to the toil faced by the lone worker on this pleasing morning.
