Item Description
Minimalist design thuya burl wood two drawer console table & bevelled mirror. Made by John Coleman. The mirror signed and dated 1993.
The table could also work well as a desk.
Veneered in exotic thuya burl wood to a book match design, and showing a superb grain, the set is in excellent condition and has been very well looked after. With minimal signs of use. To note a few light marks to the top, and a couple on the mirror as shown. The top bows downwards ever so slightly on the ends, though this may be the design.
Very sturdy in structure with no loose joints, the drawers work well and are clean on the insides. The side and backs are made of solid lace wood.
Coleman trained at the Royal College of Art and established his furniture design practice in 1981. He has designed and produced furniture to commission and for batch production, has exhibited widely and has taught on a number of design courses. He now concentrates on design for industry, his work being characterised by its clean lines and simple, balanced forms.
