Item Description
These cushions are made from one of my recent favourite Songjiang textiles. The colours are blue and red with off white making up a particularly attractive checked pattern. The colour red is slightly pink due to the effect the blue has on the red. This textile was hand woven in East China in the 1960s or 70s. Households had their own looms and made these wonderful utilitarian fabrics for their own use of for a brides dowry. I love them, they have a wonderful texture due to the lumps and bumps characteristic of hand spun yarns and wand-woven textiles.
