Item Description
These beautiful cushions are made from a vintage Sami quilt. The Sami are an ethnic group from the Sindh region of Pakistan and this style of quilt is unique to this group. They are also know as snake charmers quilts and the decorative embroidery strips are said to represent different kinds of snakes. Snake charming was performed as a religious function rather than entertainment. The quilts were made as dowry gifts and then as bedcovers. They are very hard to find in such good condition and these cushions should be treasured. I've backed the cushions with a vintage handwoven textile, in dark blue with coloured stripes and these work beautifully with the fronts. There are zip fasteners and feather pads.
