The top and sides of this long, slender 3 metre oval made from Zebra (Zebrano) hardwood with its distinctive Zebra stripe pattern in muted natural tones. A large piece of toughened safety glass sits neatly on the top within a low rebate to perimeter of the table. Four sturdy legs support the top each with deep reeded detail and tipped with the original copper painted ferrules. Purchased in London in the sixties by friends who acquired an important collection of art deco and art nouveau furniture, jewellery and many fabulous things over the years. Designed by architect, interior and furniture designer Laszlo Hoenig (1905 - 1971) he studied in Germany and practiced in Berlin until 1933 and brought his design skills to London in the mid 1930’s. A superior, elegant dining table fit for grand scale dining. Makers labels Laszlo Hoenig London W.1.
