Item Description
Pair of original oil on canvas paintings inspired by the architecture of Frank Gehry.
Sladden (1933-2020) originally trained as an Architect at the RWA (Royal West of England Academy) he later moved into sculpture and then abstract painting always being influenced by modernist architecture.
He came into prominence in the 1960s with one-man shows at the New Vision Centre Gallery and Alwin Gallery in London and at Arnolfini Gallery, in Bristol, as well as showing with groups around the world including at MoMA, New York.
This painting is almost certainly inspired by the architecture of Frank Gehry and in particular the Guggenheim Bilbao.
This metallic silver and deep azure blue diptych has an almost graffiti-like quality to it
In excellent vintage condition with only minor wear and tear as can be seen in photos.
Each panel measures: 102cm x 102cm so if they were hung flush to each other the overall width would be 204cm.
