Item Description
A vintage original pencil and charcoal study.
Depicting a rather serious situation at the gallows, the victim of the hanging is being read his last rights with his head down and eyes closed in anticipation. The is a crowd in front of him gathering including a soldier on horseback.
The drawing is well executed and confidently drawn, for such a serious situation the depiction feels ever so slightly humorous in its execution without being a caricature or cartoon-like.
Unsigned and probably dating to the early to mid-20th century.
It is framed and glazed in a simple black frame.
The drawing is in great vintage condition with no issues to speak of and only minor handling wear consistent with age.
Measuring 61.5cm x 51.5cm overall.
