Item Description
A sumptuous early 20th-century Dutch Delftware lidded jar, with two twisted handles on the side, decorated in blue and white in the Chinoiserie style. Sitting on a piedouche, its large body showcases five exquisite scenes with several Chinese characters, each individualised with a gorgeous level of detail. They are surrounded by elegant clusters of trees, foliage, and rivers, alongside ornate scrolls and flowers in the Delft taste.
Two remarkable twisted handles frame this jar, decorated with gorgeous speckles in blue and white and adding an exceptional sculptural quality to it. It is complete with the lid and in excellent condition. This large jar is a rare piece and a true statement piece.
Excellent condition. A repair to top edge. One yellow stain under glaze on the tip of one handle.
