Impressive Carved stone relief plaque depicting Roman governor of Judaea, Pontius Pilate condemning Christ to his fate. Carved in deep intricate relief. Pilate is seated on a throne adorned with an Aquila, whilst washing his hands in a bowl held by a young boy. symbolising washing himself of blame, there is much Roman architectural iconography in the piece. Christ stands surrounded by two heavily armed Roman guards. Impressive high relief carving. Carved Limestone Circa 1780
