Item Description

We are proud to offer a rare example of a late 19th Century Napoleonic prisoner of war (POW) hand carved set of dominos, in an exquisite casket shaped box. 42 carved dominos in total fit into the sliding top casket, covered in detailed patterns and motifs. This item is made from mutton bone that would have been available to prisoners of war from this era, with a pine base inset.

Size in inches: H 4” x W 4.2” x D 2.25”
Date: 1880
Material: Mutton Bone
Condition: Good
Completely solid in structure and form, faded in areas with aging across the surface as shown. An aged item with aged wear, no losses 1 of the 42 dominos is different in form but is still made from mutton bone. Exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas in this piece, therefore we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment.
