Item Description
An exceptional and rare part suite of Art Nouveau Secessionist glassware by Freiherr con Poschinger, Bavaria, in their green enamel ‘Cube’ pattern dated 1906.
Poschinger glass has an illustrious history and their glasses have adorned the tables and residences of many international Royal families since it’s foundation in Bavaria in the 1600s. The von Poschinger glassworks were suppliers to the courts of the Bavarian and French kings. Even the Czar's court in St Petersburg enjoyed the excellent drinking-glasses made in the famous Bavarian Forest. King Ludwig III of Bavaria and King Friedrich August III of Saxony spent a few days on the Oberfrauenau estate, went hunting in those forests, and visited the glass factory in Frauenau.
Beautifully handcrafted, the set comprises:
11 large water tumblers 13cm high, 7 cm diamete
6 large wine or water goblets 19.2cm high, 7cm diameter
8 white wine glasses 18cm high, 6.5cm diameter;
10 cocktail or aperitif glasses 15cm high, 5.5cm diameter;
6 liqueur glasses 11.5cm high, 4cm diameter
