Item Description
This is a pair of rare antique French wall sconces that date from the 18th century. Discovered recently in Avignon, in the South of France, this truly fabulous pair of chateau candleholders is wonderful in its appeal with a gorgeous distressed patina in natural shades with accents of light blue and grey. Each one is made of an ornate hand carved wooden base that attaches to a wall [with one single nail]. From this base three metal branches extend to the front. These are finished with spikes and wooden circular candle holders that can hold - besides large candles - other decorative items if desired. They have a rustic yet elegant form and would look just exceptional if placed on the sides of large tapestries, paintings, mirrors etc. Each one measures about 34 x 45 x 31 cm or approximately 13.3 x 17.7 x 12.2 inches. They are exactly as I discovered them in lovely timeworn condition with signs of ageing that in my opinion only brings forth their true beauty and splendour today.
