Item Description
This is an astounding and extremely rare antique Madonna of the Rosary that dates from the early 19th century or older. Discovered in Munich, the capitol of Bavaria, Germany this exceptional artistic creation consists of three incredible statues that are hand carved from wood with masterful artistry and talent. Once these figures ware most ceertainly the central part of a large tableau with the Madonna and the Child taking the central part with St Dominic and St Catherine positioned on each side. It shows the legend of St. Dominic - from 1208 - when the Madonna appeared to him and presented him with the rosary as a weapon of faith.
The measurements of each statue are listed below the images of this listing. This captivating and remarkable treasure comes with a wonderful distressed appeal and timeworn patina that in my opinion only enhances its true breathtaking beauty and splendour today. This is a highly decorative sculptural work of art of exceptional allure and meaning that could stand free on a flat surface or be displayed on a wall if desired. It is exactly as I discovered it.
