Item Description

This is a truly stunning and extremely rare antique and elegant French table centerpiece that dates from the earlier part of the 19th century, e.g., around 200 years old. Discovered recently in the South of France this exquisite treasure is made of gilded brinze on a black marble base. It once belonged to a palais in Avignon. The handles are in the shape of open winged dragons between which is a large plate decorated in its centre with a medallion in relief depicting "The Harvest", as a female figure holding wheat. The plate is positioned on a magnificent two faced bust [with male and female neoclassical faces on each side] that continues into a circilar shape base with a black marble foundation. This remarkable item measures about 27 x 42.5 x 30 cm or approximately 10 x 16.7 x 11.8 inches and it is in lovely antique condition with minor signs of ageing. I decided to represent it exactly as I discovered it but it could be polished if desired. For the full condition please refer to the images!
