Item Description
This is a truly majestic and extremely rare Italian Baroque treasure chest that I just discovered in Tuscany. Dating from the 17th century this magnificent treasure is hand carved from wood with an extremely elaborate design and masterful craftsmanship like no other. The front has a glass window so that deposited treasures within could be on display. On its back is a little door still containing the original lock and the key which is extraordinary for such ancient items. The carving was once fully gilded in silver, and today bears just the stunning marks of its impressive age seen in a gloriously timeworn and distressed patina that only centuries could create. The chest or vitrine measures about 45.5 x 43.5 x 15 cm or approximately 17.9 x 17.1 x 5.9 inches and it is exactly as I discovered it. For the full condition please refer to the images!
