Item Description

This is an absolutely gorgeous and extremely rare antique French altar vase that dates from the second half of the 18th century. Discovered recently in Avignon in the South of France this exceptional treasure consists of an urn holding a branch with oak and laurel leaves [symbolising wisdom and glory]. The base is constructed mainly from wood, except the front of the urn which is in metal relief. The leaves are made of tin attached to the main branch with wires. What makes this highly decorative item even more attractive today in my opinion is its outstanding patina created by the passage of time. This gives it a truly captivating appeal of exceptional beauty and splendour, like no other. It measures about 74 x 34 x 17 cm or approximately 29.1 x 13.3 x 6.6 inches and it is in lovely antique condition, exactly as I discovered it. For the full condition please refer to the images!
