Item Description
This is a truly magnificent antique Italian painting that was just discovered in Florence. Dating most probably from the 18th century, this anonymous oil on canvas depicts Madonna and Child with John The Baptist [as a child]. Executed with great mastery on a circular canvas that measures about 60 cm or approximately 23.6 inches in diameter. The painting is still in its original frame that in my opinion is a work of art in itself. It is a hand carved and gilded wooden frame - with an exquisite patina - that measures about 75 cm or 29.5 inches in diameter with a depth of 7 cm or 2.7 inches. Still with stunning colours and gorgeous composition this ancient work of art would look just exquisite in a stylish interior, classical or contemporary. It is in lovely antique condition with minor signs of ageing which could only brings forth its true beauty and splendour today. It is exactly as I discovered it.
